Adding Extra Touches to Your Living Room

Once you’ve got the main decorating finished in your living room, you can start thinking about adding those extra touches that will make the room perfect. By this point, you’ll have done the painting and put up any wallpaper that needs to go on the walls. Before adding the extra and finishing touches, you should also have the main pieces of furniture in the room, for example, sofas, chairs and tables.

Ornaments are one of the first things that you’ll want to use to make your living room look more cozy and homely. A few beautiful ornaments, both large and small, on your window shelves and mantel piece will add that sparkle to your living room and give your visitors (and you!) something pretty to look at.

Photographs displayed around the room are perfect, especially if you have children or members of your extended family who you’re close to. If you get the chance, get professional photographs framed beautifully so that they’re perfect for your walls. A large picture of your family over the fireplace always seems to give any room that family feel and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Cheap chandeliers are definitely something to consider if you’re trying to achieve a more classic, old-style look. That’s not to say outdoor chandeliers are old-fashioned; however, they won’t work as well if you’ve decorating your living room in a very modern way. Rather than using lamp shades made of cloth or other materials, get your hands on some dining room chandeliers and have several lights to brighten up the room.

Finally, a vase of flowers on the window shelf is one of the most popular finishing touches to add to your living room. Try to buy real flowers rather than artificial ones whenever possible, as this is healthier for you as well!
